The
Error Manager Tool allows you to decide what content gets displayed
when an error is encountered by a visitor to your web site. For example,
you may want to display a custom message, or even your own custom web
page if your visitor types a URL incorrectly , rather than seeing a
generic '404' error page. When you first enter the Error Manager tool,
it looks like this:
There are 3 sections to the tool: Choosing an error code, selecting the action to be taken, and entering the URL or message for that code. The
first thing you need to do is decide which error you'll be working with
from the drop-down list:
Then
you'll need to decide how you want that error handled. You can leave it
at the 'default' setting, which uses the client's browser to display the
error, choose a custom message, or choose a custom URL. If you decide
to choose a custom message, the following is displayed:
Simply enter the text message (for example, "Invalid page - please try again") and press "Apply Changes". What
most folks like to do, however, is create a custom error page. To enable
this, choose "URL" and the screen will display:
![]() You
can now either enter the full URL to your page (or relative path if it's
in your account), or use the drop-down menu to select your page from your
account (assuming you already created and uploaded it). Press "Apply
Changes" and the error redirect is now enabled!
Repeat
as needed for the other error conditions you wish to redirect. To modify
the custom error settings later simply return to this tool and select
the error you want to work with from the drop-down list.
