Users
You have a counter available to you right in FrontPage. Refer to your
Microsoft documentation on inserting a FrontPage counter into your pages.
NOTE: Just like all FrontPage components, it will only work if extensions
are installed for your account and you have published using the FrontPage
built-in publishing utility.
Everyone Else
We provide
a free script called 'Count.cgi' which is located in the global CGI
folder (/cgi-sys/). In your Control Center there are detailed instructions
on using the coutner, plus links to the author's page with FAQs and
examples.
If
you would like to use your own counter (or any other script for that
matter) you are welcome to place it in your 'cgi-bin' folder. Note that
we cannot provide technical support for 3rd-party scripts, however.
Here
are 2 of the most Frequently Asked Questions regarding counters:
"Why
doesn't my counter increment when I go back to the page?"
Our counter is configured to count only UNIQUE IP addresses. This means
all the times you view the same page while you are coming from the same
IP address get counted once per day only. Hitting "Reload"
or "Refresh" or even the "Back" button will not
increment the counter. This is by design, so counters do not get artificially
inflated by one user going back and forth many times.
"I
have a parked domain and the counter does not work on it!"
You need to let us know that you will be using a counter on your parked
domain so we can enable a setting in the counter configuration file.
There is no charge for this service, just ask.
