What
is it?
The Account Management Tool shows you valuable information
about your hosting account, and lets you make some changes.
For
example, it shows your username, the hostname of the server you are
on, your plan quotas, path information, next bill date, and lots more.
What
Can I Do With It?
You can get information you may need for accounting
purposes, path information for scripts, change your personal and billing
information, and set alarms so you can be notified
if you are nearing your disk or bandwidth quotas.
How
Do I Do That?
In the first screen you arrive at you will see the
account information you might need. At the bottom of this page are
2 links: "Edit Personal Information" and "Edit Billing
Information and Off Network E-mail Address"
Edit
Personal Information
In this screen you can change your name, address, and billing party
information. This can be useful if you have moved, changed your phone
number, or even transferred responsibility for your domain to another
party.
Edit
Billing Information and Off Network E-mail Address
In this screen you can change your credit card information and your
second (off-site) email address listed with us. This is handy when
your credit card expires or you wish to place a different card on
file for future billings than the one you signed up with.
NOTE:
unless you have your own SSL certificate for your domain, the
update payment screen will NOT be encrypted and therefore will
not allow you entry! If you need to update your credit card information
and do not have your own SSL certificate, go to https://www.5dollarhosting.com/payments.htm
to make the changes. Despite the wording, you do not have
to obtain an SSL certificate to update your credit card. |
Why
an "off-network" email address?
First, by "off-network" we mean an email address that is
not at your domain. This way, if there is a problem with the server,
network, or even just your account we can still communicate with you.
This is also useful if you want another party to be carbon-copied
on correspondence from us.
Setting
Quota Alarms
In the first screen of the Account Management tool, at the bottom,
is an area where you can program your account to alert you when bandwidth
or disk usage exceeds an amount you decide. Remember, for bandwidth
the number is in Megabytes, so if you want to know when you have exceeded
4 GB of monthly bandwidth, the number you would use in the alarm setting
screen would be 4000 (4000 MB = 4 GB). See below for screen shot.
